Exploring Community Service in Bakalan Village: Lessons from the New Normal Era
Abstract
Community Service Learning (CSL) is a vital program in higher education that integrates the principles of education, research, and community service. This study explores CSL activities conducted in Desa Bakalan, Jumapolo District, Karanganyar Regency, especially in the context of the New Normal era. Through offline methods, various activities were carried out, including educational content creation on the New Normal, social service, distribution of vitamins and brochures, and planting medicinal plants. Collaboration between students, universities, and local communities was key to the success of these activities. The results indicate that CSL not only benefits the local community but also provides valuable experiences for students. Smooth implementation and effective coordination between CSL participants and Field Supervisors were crucial. Thus, CSL serves as a significant means of applying knowledge to community development in the New Normal era. The importance of these results lies in their positive contribution to the local community, strengthening the relationship between universities and society, and providing valuable learning experiences for students. Moreover, these activities reinforce the concept of community service in a real-world context while supporting recovery efforts during the pandemic.
