ACADEMIC SELF-EFFICACY MAHASISWA PENDIDIKAN PROFESI PSIKOLOGI: STUDI FENOMENOLOGIS TENTANG PERSIAPAN KARIR SEBAGAI PSIKOLOG
Abstract
Academic self-efficacy is an important aspect for professional psychology students who face complex academic demands and professional practice requirements. This study aims to understand how students interpret and develop their academic self-efficacy in preparing for their careers as psychologists. The research employed a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Participants were selected using purposive sampling, consisting of three active professional psychology students who were undergoing the LPPPU program. Data were collected through primary and secondary sources, semi-structured interviews, and analyzed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). The findings show that participants demonstrated strong academic self-efficacy across four aspects: self-engagement, self-oriented decision-making, other-oriented problem-solving, and interpersonal climate. These results indicate that academic self-efficacy plays an essential role in learning persistence, emotional regulation, collaboration, and readiness to meet practice demands. This study contributes to the development of professional psychology curricula by emphasizing the strengthening of academic self-efficacy as a foundation for academic and career readiness.
